Zohydro, a move away from more dangerous synthetics?
Zohydro dubbed heroin pill yet more powerful, more dangerous synthetics
such as fentanyl and opana(of which zohydro, is a less dangerous
alternative for doctors), as well as potent(could be dubbed a "heroin
pill") morphine are already widely prescribed. It could also be argued that this would be a good thing because of the acetaminophen laden drugs and could only improve the entire public health, pain sufferers and those who need help alike.

Hydrocodone is the least potent of the opioid class. As you point out, many more potent painkillers are on the market and more widely abused. Zohydro is a viable alternative to commonly prescribed hydrocodone combo meds (like Vicodin, Lortab, and other generics). It is the ONLY hydrocodone painkiller without adverse effects on the liver. Of those suffering chronic pain, 30 million with liver disease, as well as anyone who drinks alcohol or who is on other meds that may compromise their liver, they certainly do have a concern for acetaminophen exposure, This option should remain accessible and available.
